Protect-A-Bed Mattress Covers

Protect-A-Bed has mattress protectors and box spring protectors. They were originally developed and introduced in South Africa in 1980.

They use a polyurethane laminate that can now withstand in excess of 200 washes and tumble dries at boiling point.

As we are now more aware of other health issues, it made it even more essential to protect mattresses and pillows against dust mites as well as bed bug infestations, as they are both a major cause of asthma, allergies and eczema.

Protect-A-Bed mattress and box spring covers are considered health products. They were produced with great care to ensure that the materials that were used were safe and free of harmful substances like cadmium. The product itself has been tested to be flame-resistant to a greater extent than the law requires and, with reasonable care, can be used safely in all domestic environments. 

Mattress pads were the only thing that the U.S. market was familiar with until the introduction of mattress protectors by Protect-A-Bed in 2000.  

Mattress pads were originally developed when mattresses were made a lot thinner with a lot less padding during the depression years. The quilted mattress pad was created as a solution to add comfort, some protection and a renewed life to a mattress. Nowadays the mattresses being sold are already come with layers of padding already built in. The only essential product for the top of your bed is a protector that will protect the mattress from contaminants, and the sleeper from allergens. Protect-A-Bed products serve for that instance.
